What??? You Didn’t Backup Your Data?

Lost Data = Much Sadness

We all have computer files that we absolutely cannot lose. For some of us, it may only be one file. Unfortunately for the rest of us, we find out just how many files we depend on only during the worst of computer crashes. With all the TV commercials and radio ads for secure online backup providers in recent months, it’s a wonder that anyone still gambles with the loss of their data.

The look on a client’s face and the sound of their voice on the phone when I mention “hard drive failure” is nothing short of devastating. I can emphathize with these victims of hard drive failure because I too have been there. Yes, even I have lost data because I did NOT backup.

For me and most of my fellow computer users, it’s not that we didn’t think backups were a good idea, we simply planned on getting everying in order “tomorrow.” Of course there are also the endless excuses and reasons that we use to convince ourselves that backups really aren’t all that necessary for “ME!” After all, we aren’t the kind of careless people that lose data, right?

If there are still those lucky enough to have no idea what I’m talking about, I am extremely happy for you. At the same time, I can tell you one bit of wisdom that can only be gained through the painful experience of re-doing HOURS of work: It’s only a matter of time. Why not get your data backed up today and remove one more worry from your life?
